Welcome to Min’s Menu!
I’m Mina, mother of three children currently living in Surrey.
From a very young age, watching and helping my mother produce various dishes in the kitchen initiated my interest and spurred my passion for cooking.
I originally began cooking traditional Gujarati vegetarian food at the age of 12 years old. Gujarati cuisine originates from the state of Gujarat, on the western coast of India. It consists of a wide variety of vegetarian dishes, snacks, chutneys, pickles and foods cooked with a combination of sweet and sour flavours.
My mother taught me how to make everything, from chapatis to dals to rice dishes, as well as variety of Indian vegetable curries and fried breads. After marriage, I expanded my repertoire to include some non-vegetarian recipes which I picked up from my father-in-law and mother-in-law. Building upon all the recipes that had been shared with me and after recognising my flair for cooking, I decided to start experimenting with my own foods to create more dishes that my family and I enjoyed eating.
Despite having a predominantly Indian repertoire, I have since branched out to experiment with cuisines from all over the world that have been inspired by my own travels. I love collecting fresh ingredients to enhance flavours to help me to produce more delicious meals that everyone can indulge in.
Cooking has always been quite therapeutic to me and I view it as a way of expressing my love to my family. It gives me great pleasure and huge satisfaction when I see family and friends gathered round my table enjoying my food.
Mins Menu is my place to inspire you to create some of the delicious, fresh, family friendly meals that I make and eat in my every day life.
