Naan Bread
An Indian flat bread which is traditionally baked inside a hot clay tandoor oven. This is a very simple quick and easy recipe to follow. Once you make your own, you will never want shop bought again. Naans are best eaten hot and ideal served as a side with your favourite curry.
Makes 12 naans
Ingredients
- 3.5 cups of self-raising flour
- 2 cups of Greek yoghurt
- 1 tbsp. salt or to taste
- Chopped fresh coriander (optional)
Instructions
Mix the flour, salt and yoghurt and knead into a dough.
If dough is sticky you can add a little more flour.
Leave to rest for about half an hour and then knead again and split dough into 12 even sized pieces.
Roll out each piece on a floured surface into a round or oval shape.
Cook on a flat pan on both sides and puff up with a spatula or cloth.
Butter lightly or generously (like me) and serve with your favourite curry.
What a lovely recipe, really straight forward to make and tastes amazing, I couldn’t believe how nice such a simple recipe could taste.
Really pleased to hear you tried this recipe Ian. It is so simple and straight forward that you wouldn’t want to have ready made naans again. Thanks for your comment.
Made this with the Roasted Cauliflower Makhani which is also on this website and was a perfect accompaniment, bread came out nice and fluffy and was very easy to make. Highly recommended!
So pleased to hear you enjoyed your roasted cauliflower makhani with my naan. It is a nice and easy recipe to follow.
Looks great, can you freeze the dough if you don’t want to use all 12 portions at the same time? Thanks for the recipe
Hi, Priyesh
Thanks!
You can freeze naan bread dough, However, I never frozen the dough myself.
The other option is that you can make the whole batch of naans and freeze them or you can just make half the quantity of dough.
Hope this helps.
